Stacey at the Hospital - Episode 1

October 20, 2009 - 1:30 p.m.
Tye has taken control of Stacey's blog for a few days and will attempt to post as many non-gross updates as possible regarding her hospital visit and impending childbirth. Stacey's doctor (Doctor Jew - pronounced Jo with a French J sound) was alarmed at her high blood pressure on Monday at Stacey's regularly scheduled appointment, so Dr. Jew ordered her directly to the hospital for further testing. At the hospital she tested negative for toxemia and pre-eclampsia, but her blood pressure remained and very high levels and she was admitted. Last night she received a dose of Cervidil (a drug that softens the cervix) and then I went home to take care of the cats and attempt to sleep. Needless to say, neither of us got much sleep. Cervidil usually takes 12 hours to take effect, so I came back early this morning to check in on her. Stacey had a liquid breakfast and was then put on Oxytocin to begin inducing labor at around 9:30 a.m. That is when I took this video.

It is now 1:30 p.m. and Stacey is finally starting to have some pretty strong contractions. They are quite short but relatively close together. She is still very aware and talkative, and we are currently reminiscing about what a great life we have already had together. Stacey and I have been together for almost 11 years, and we have had a lot of fun - possibly too much fun. But we are both ready to settle down and make this baby our top priority.

Ha ha I guess she was still doing pretty well at that point! I don't think I was ever that calm during my labor. We can't wait for more updates. This will be your best adventure together yet!

I am just commenting now since we were at Will's Safety Kids program at school, and then at Cec's to visit with the kids. Fun video! Stacey, you look pretty good, so far. Hang in there. Thanks for sharing the journey with us via the blog! So glad you have the camera along. You two will be great parents!
