Mason's 1st Birthday!

I can't believe it has already been a year since this perfect little boy entered our lives. It has truly been the most amazing year of our lives.

Dear Mason,

A year ago you came into this world and made your dad and me parents. We prepared as much as we could for your arrival, but nothing can quite prepare you for something as amazing as a new life. In your first moments of life you held onto your dads pinkie with your tiny little fingers while the nurses cleaned you. When I held you for the first time I was overwhelmed with love. You were so tiny, sweet, and perfect.

Your dad and I have so enjoyed watching you grow over the past year. You have grown from a sweet little mush baby that we would hold and watch all day, into a sweet and social toddler who loves to laugh. Over the past year you have learned to laugh, crawl, talk, point, wave, and hug - you have even started to do a crawl-walk, but you haven't taken your first real steps (yet!). Your dad and I have loved spending days with you dancing, playing with toys, emptying cupboards, and harassing the itties (kitties). You love to pull the kitties' tails and you often try to hit them, but we are teaching you to be gentle, and Coal is starting to like you. You are quite the little talker, and although your only words that we understand are Dad, Mom, and "ittie," you are definitely trying to tell us things all the time. We can't wait to hear what you have to say. You have started to say "boe" in a high-pitched voice to simulate a cat's meow, and you say "roar" in a deep guttural voice for every other animal. You also say "whoa" in a low voice when you are shocked at how cool something is. We love hearing you speak even though don't always understand you.

I look forward to your laughter filling our house for years to come. Soon you will be walking and talking, then riding a bike, and before you know it you will be grown. We feel so lucky to be your parents and to help you accomplish these things. Thank you for being our son. We love you so much.

Mom & Dad

To celebrate Mason's 1st birthday we started with a small celebration at home

Mase opening presents

Helping dad put his presents together

Playing with new toys

Birthday Brownie!!!

We then flew to Utah to visit family and enjoy the fall weather

Mase was really excited about playing with his cousin Max. Max was less excited about having a younger cousin crawl on him and put Legos on his face.

We had a Halloween/Birthday celebration with Tye's family

All of the cousins dressed up

We had some yummy food
and spooky cupcakes - including a kitty one for Mase
There was a hay ride

And a birthday celebration for Mase

Mase was a little nervous about everyone singing to him at first. He then realized that all the attention was on him and started to enjoy it.

The next day we visited my mom and sisters family

Mase got some quality time in with Grandma Donna

And got to hang out with his cousin Xander and aunt Stefanie

Happy 1st Birthday Mase!
